Free Live Holiday Tree Drop-Off Locations Provided January 2 - February 1
Most City of Durham offices, including City Hall and all non-emergency City facilities and operations, are closed to the public on Monday, December 23; Tuesday, December 24; Wednesday, December 25; and Wednesday, January 1, in observance of Christmas and New Year's.
Curbside Solid Waste Collections

Solid Waste Management Department services including garbage, recycling, and yard waste will be delayed by one business day beginning Wednesday, December 25, through at least the first full week of January.

The Waste Disposal and Recycling Center, Yard Waste Facility,and the Household Hazardous Waste Center will be closed on Tuesday, December 24; Wednesday, December 25; and Wednesday, January 1.

Free Live Tree Drop-Off Locations
Live trees will be accepted for free disposal at the City's Waste Disposal and Recycling Center, located at 2115 E. Club Blvd., beginning Thursday, January 2, through Saturday, February 1. The hours of operation are 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 7:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday.
Live trees may also be dropped off at no charge at the following six park locations on Saturday, January 4; Saturday, January 11; Saturday, January 18; and Saturday, January 25, from 7 a.m. to noon. Solid Waste Management crews will be on site each of these Saturdays to assist.

Free Curbside Collections for Yard Waste and Exempt Service Customers Only
Free curbside collections for live trees are only available to current yard waste customers and current exempt service customers. Curbside live tree collections will take place from Thursday, January 2, through Monday, February 3, and customers should place their tree at the curb on their normal collection day. A tree collection will not count toward a free brush collection for yard waste customers.
Live Tree Disposal Instructions
All live trees left at any of the six drop-off locations as well as curbside must adhere to the following disposal instructions:

Trees must be cut in half, if taller than six feet.

Trees must have all decorations and hardware removed including tinsel, lights, garland, ornaments, nails, and stands.

Trees should not be inside bags.
Parks and Recreation

Durham Parks and Recreation (DPR) administrative office, recreation centers, rental facilities, and indoor pools are closed Monday, December 23; Tuesday, December 24; and Wednesday, December 25. They will reopen on Thursday, December 26.

All DPR facilities are closed on Wednesday, January 1, and will reopen on Thursday, January 2.

Downtown Parking

Park Durham Customer Service Center is closed on Monday, December 23; Tuesday, December 24; Wednesday, December 25; and Wednesday, January 1.

On City-designated holidays, downtown parking is free in on-street parking spaces, in some City-owned parking garages, and in City-owned surface parking lots.

GoDurham and GoDurham ACCESS

Holiday service is available on most GoDurham and GoDurham ACCESS routes with the exception of Wednesday, December 25. On Tuesday, December 24, service ends at 7 p.m.

GoDurham and GoDurham ACCESS will operate Sunday-level service on Wednesday, January 1.

Durham One Call is closed on Monday, December 23; Tuesday, December 24; Wednesday, December 25; and Wednesday, January 1. Residents may submit service requests in the following ways, and staff will forward requests for City services to the appropriate department on the next business day:
Water and Sewer Emergencies

Water main break and sewer overflow calls for service placed after-hours, on weekends, or on City-recognized holidays should be directed to the Water Management Department's after-hours emergency number at 919-560-4344, which will dispatch on-call crews.
