Public Works Crews Working to Remove Storm Debris, Restore Traffic Signals

Public Works crews are working on debris cleanup from last night's heavy rains, high winds, and strong thunderstorms that traveled across much of the City.

Crews worked throughout the night to clear numerous fallen trees and limbs that blocked streets and sidewalks. Cleanup efforts are expected to continue over the next few days.

Residents who need to report a downed tree or limb that is blocking a street, alley, or sidewalk should do so in the following ways:

  • Contact Public Works
  • Peoria Cares Service Requests
    • By phone at 309-494-2273
    • Through the Peoria Cares app
    • Through the Peoria Cares website

Residents are also reminded that storm debris should be bundled with a nonmetallic cord, be no more than five feet long, weigh no more than 50 pounds, and set out to the curb on their normal GFL collection day.

Due to the severity of the thunderstorms, several traffic signals at various intersections throughout the City are on all-flash or are completely out. Crews have been working diligently to restore the traffic signals to full operations.

For more information regarding cleanup efforts, contact Public Works at 309-494-8800.
