Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Kim Hong Kyun to Visit Japan and Malaysia

1. Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs Kim Hong Kyun is scheduled to visit Japan and Malaysia from June 25 to 28.

2. On June 28 in Tokyo, Japan, Vice Minister Kim is set to hold the 15th Korea-Japan Vice-Ministerial Strategic Dialogue with Japanese Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs Okano Masataka. This dialogue, resumed following the Korea-Japan summit in March last year, marks the first in approximately 8 months since the 14th one on October 5, 2023. In the upcoming meeting, the two sides aim to explore cooperation between the two countries across a wide range of issues, including regional and international matters, while also discussing bilateral relations between Korea and Japan.

3. Prior to his visit to Japan, Vice Minister Kim will visit Malaysia from June 25 to 27. During this visit, he plans to hold the ninth Korea-Malaysia Bilateral Consultations with Amran Mohamed Zin, Secretary General of the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, after a 16-year hiatus. In the consultations, the two sides will comprehensively review cooperation issues between the two countries and exchange views on regional and international developments.
