Hilcona pressing ahead with additional expansion of Schaan headquarters

Hilcona is initiating the second phase of the expansion projects at its Schaan headquarters. A new outgoing goods building and an automatic high-bay warehouse are to be built by 2025. A new production building was already completed in 2021.

Hilcona is pressing ahead with the second phase of the expansion projects at its headquarters in Schaan. The food producer, which is part of the Bell Food Group in Basel, has announced in a press release that construction work on a new outgoing goods building and a high-bay warehouse with over 17,000 pallet spaces is set to begin in the first quarter of 2023. At the ceremony to mark the official start of construction, Hilcona CEO Martin Henck highlighted that the company is "continuously developing the Schaan plant, creating efficient and competitive production structures in the process", before underlining that this decision also represents "a strong commitment" to innovations made in Schaan.

Operations at the new automatic high-bay warehouse are scheduled to commence at the end of 2024. Hilcona is then planning a third expansion stage in which another production building is to be constructed. A new production building was already completed in 2021 in the first construction phase initiated in 2019.

Hilcona intends to set standards in design, functionality and sustainability in the expansion of its headquarters. For the latter, the concept envisages, among other aspects, a plant for the treatment of waste water and state-of-the-art photovoltaic systems on the buildings. Green roofs will also be installed on all buildings.

"With the next step in our plant development plan, we are acting strategically and with foresight", comments Peter Ritzer, who is responsible for the overall project. He goes on to explain how the company intends to set new standards in food production. "We are also generating efficiency gains and making optimal use of our capacities", he concludes.
