WORCESTER, Mass. - The City of Worcester Department of Emergency Communications and Management has been awarded a $3.2M grant from the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security and the State 911 Department.

The grant money will be put toward the purchase and implementation of a new computer-aided dispatch (CAD) and record management system (RMS).

This grant is part of the Fiscal Year 2025 State 911 Department Regional Public Safety Answering Point and Regional Secondary Public Safety Answering Point and Regional Emergency Communications Center Development Grant Program. The purpose of the Development Grant is to support the development and startup of public safety answering points or regional emergency communication centers to maximize effective 9-1-1 services.

"The impact of this grant is truly remarkable," said Department of Emergency Communications and Management Commissioner Charles Goodwin. "A new CAD/RMS system will streamline operations and result in more efficient work and data-tracking. We are incredibly grateful for this award from the State 911 Department and Healey-Driscoll administration."
