Oka’ Institute Executive Director Duane Smith addressed Oklahoma Senate Interim Study on Water Usage, Monitoring, and Oversight

ADA, Okla. - The Oka' Institute at East Central University is proud to announce that Duane Smith, Executive Director, participated in the Oklahoma Senate Interim Study on Water Usage, Monitoring, and Oversight. The study, initiated by state legislators, aims to address the growing challenges surrounding water resource management, long-term sustainability, and current practices and policies governing water resources across Oklahoma. Smith spoke on the overview of water policy and law in the state, emphasizing the importance of robust frameworks in ensuring sustainable water management.

As a recognized expert in water policy and law, Smith is a leading voice in water resource management, Smith brings decades of experience to this critical discussion. His insights focused on the need for updated policies that addressed the state's growing water demands, improved monitoring systems, and enhanced oversight mechanisms to protect Oklahoma's water supply in the face of increasing challenges.
