GBPI Statement on the Comprehensive Health Coverage Commission’s December Report

Georgia Budget & Policy Institute (GBPI) applauds the Comprehensive Health Coverage Commission for including an initial set of opportunities for health care coverage expansion and quality improvement in their December 2024 report. GBPI strongly supports the recommendation to examine improvements to the Pathways to Coverage program as the state embarks upon a program renewal process in 2025. In an October 2024 report GBPI released six specific recommendations for building upon the current program design as well as suggestions for strengthening the public benefits enrollment and eligibility infrastructure. Over the next two years, GBPI urges the Commission to center the lived experiences of affected individuals and co-design solutions with low-income Georgians who are uninsured. "All Georgians deserve access to life-saving health care - no matter where they live, what they look like, or how many dollars they have in their pocket." - Leah Chan, Director of Health Justice
