Capito Secures CDS Awards to Support Public Safety in West Virginia

CHARLESTON, W.Va. - Today, U.S. Senator Shelley Moore Capito (R-W.Va.), a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced funding awards to several local law enforcement departments across West Virginia.

These awards, which were secured through Congressionally Directed Spending (CDS) requests made by Senator Capito in Fiscal Year 2024 (FY24), will be used to supplement equipment and training costs for officers in various police departments and local governments across the state.

"Local law enforcement is the first line of defense when it comes to keeping our communities safe. These additional resources will go a long way in helping ensure that officers and public safety officials are equipped with the tools and training that they need. Through my role on the Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Commerce, Justice, Science and Related Agencies, I was proud to work with these organizations to ensure that resources are provided at the local level and law enforcement officers are able to acquire the resources they need to protect our communities," Senator Capito said.
