Brnabic: Children are Best World Peace and Cooperation Ambassadors

At the reception celebrating the 55th International Gathering of Children of Europe - "Joy of Europe", she welcomed all the children saying that she felt honoured to be able to open it as the National Assembly Speaker and, as such, the Chairperson of the Committee on the Rights of the Child.

"As you know, "Joy of Europe" is the biggest and oldest festival of children's creativity on the European continent. Since its beginning in 1968 is has been the symbol of dance, song, friendship, understanding others and those among us who are different. This festival allows children to better understand one another, to showcase their countries' customs so that in an ideal future world they could understand, appreciate and respect each other better, build bridges between countries and people", said Brnabic.

She added that this year's meetings are all the more precious because children from Namibia have also come to Serbia, which expands the borders of this manifestation outside of Europe.

"Considering the complexity of the world we live in and all the challenges we face, we need to preserve peace and establish dialogue in the world. Looking at you here and the event that brings you together, it seems to me that we, adults, above all in politics, may also need an event of this kind", she said.

Brnabic said that with their energy and creativity, children are true ambassadors of peace and cooperation in the world.

"And that is why it would be good if we adults managed to establish something like that. I want to thank you for bringing your energy and intelligence from which we can learn so much. I hope you to enjoy every moment of this festival and create memories and friendships that will last a lifetime through dance, song and socialising. May the joy of Europe be with all of us," she stressed.
