Clemson University's Division of Community, Engagement, Belonging and Access, began a series of free Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) events for K-12 students with an event at Spring Valley High School on August 24.

The spectacular day of hands-on STEM exploration proved to be a resounding success, capturing the imagination of 700+ enthusiastic participants including K-12 students, parents and volunteers.

The event transformed the high school's gymnasium into a vibrant playground of discovery, where 60 interactive STEM activities awaited eager minds. From coding challenges to engineering marvels, students immersed themselves in a world of science, technology, engineering and math, sparking curiosity and fostering a love for these critical fields.

Through a new partnership with STEM Global Action, Clemson is launching the STEM South Carolina (STEM SC) initiative as part of the University's mission to enhance educational access to all students for success in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

Future events include a STEM FEST in Greenville on Oct. 5 and STEM Saturdays scheduled for Sept. 14 in Florence and Nov. 9 in Rock Hill. More information on the program and future events can be found here - www.clemson.edu/stem-sc.

ABOUT STEM SC POWERED BY CLEMSON

The mission of STEM SC powered by Clemson is to offer high-quality, out-of-school-time programs that engage students in hands-on, project-based STEM learning. Students connect their knowledge to the real world during each module by building something related to a theme that will excite and inspire them.

One of the core initiatives of Clemson University's strategic plan, Clemson Elevate, is to transform lives by community outreach that enhances educational and economic opportunities for South Carolinians. The University has a long history of bringing young people to the Clemson campus to experience the magic of higher education and inspire them to follow their dreams. This program will reverse the process and bring the power of higher education to schools and communities throughout South Carolina.
