City of Clearwater Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month

The city of Clearwater is excited to join the nationwide celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, which occurs from Sept. 15 to Oct. 15, with a series of cultural events. These festivities recognize the rich heritage and contributions of the Hispanic and Latinx communities.

"In Clearwater, we celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month by paying tribute to the many Hispanic Americans who have enriched our city and nation" said Mayor Bruce Rector. "The Hispanic community will play an important role in making Clearwater thrive for generations to come and we embrace them as we work together as one community to make Clearwater shine brighter than ever."

Hispanic Heritage Month-Pottery Painting Celebration

Sept. 18, 11 a.m.-2 p.m.

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month by painting terra cotta clay pots at the Clearwater East Community Library, 2465 Drew St. All supplies will be provided. Painting experience is not necessary. Registration required.

Scenes on the Green Celebrates Hispanic Heritage Month at Crest Lake Park

Sept. 20, 8 p.m.

Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with the screening of "A Million Miles Away," an inspiring film based on the true story of NASA flight engineer José Hernández, who defied the odds to achieve his dreams. The event will be at Crest Lake Park, 201 S Glenwood Ave.

Encanto Fiesta

Sept. 23, 2-3 p.m.

At the North Greenwood Library, 905 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave., participants will be treated to a special sing-a-long screening of Disney's "Encanto" (PG, 2021). Participants will create a magical candle, reassemble the prophecy glass, be granted a magical "gift" and much more.

Once Upon A Cuento: Bilingual Storytime

Sept. 25 10:30-11:15 a.m.

Ms. Claudia and Ms. Isabella lead us in a bilingual story time that's fun for both Spanish and non-Spanish speakers. Join us at the East Community Library, 2465 Drew St., to build language skills while enjoying stories, songs, crafts and more. We encourage active participation from accompanying adults.

Clearwater Latin Jazz Fest

Sept. 27, 7 to 10 p.m.
Listen to musicians from Brazil, Cuba, Colombia, Puerto Rico, Venezuela and the United States. Come together for a free Latin jazz concert at The BayCare Sound, 255 Drew St.! Artists include Enesito Avich & Friends, Mauricio Rodriguez & the MJR Latin Project and O Som Do Jazz with Andrea Moraes Manson & José Valentino Ruiz.

Rumba en Clearwater Presented by Achieva Credit Union

Sept. 28, 4 to 10:30 p.m.

Ready to Rumba, Clearwater? Head to Coachman Park, 300 Cleveland St., for an evening filled with amazing live music, dance lessons and an electric atmosphere. Artists include La Tribu Royale Band, Domenic Marte and Charlie Aponte.

Colors of Culture: A Hispanic Heritage Painting Class

Sept. 30, 5 to 6:30 p.m.

In celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month, Clearwater East Community Library, 2465 Drew St., is hosting a painting workshop with local artist Jo Morgan. All supplies provided. Registration required.

Salsa at the District

Oct. 12, 6 to 11 p.m.

Get ready for an unforgettable celebration of salsa with a fantastic lineup of performers, talented dancers, and amazing DJs to keep you entertained along the 400 and 500 block of Cleveland Street.

Hispanic Heritage Festival

Oct. 13, 1 to 9 p.m.
Participate in a parade of nations at Coachman Park, 300 Cleveland St., with music and folklore from Colombia, Peru, Panama, Puerto Rico, Cuba, Mexico and El Salvador. There will also be children's activities, a DJ and bounce houses. This event is organized by community organization, Unimex.
