Protect Yourself from Water Testing Scam

It has come to our attention that unknown individuals or vendors are attempting to gain access to homes under the pretense of collecting water samples. These individuals are falsely claiming that the water is contaminated and that they have been sent to take samples.

Please be advised that City of Colton Water Utilities staff do not enter private residences or collect water samples from inside homes. For your safety, exercise caution when interacting with vendors or individuals at your door.

City of Colton Water Utilities staff can be easily identified by:

• A City-issued uniform clearly displaying their role.
• A City-issued ID badge with their photo.

If anyone contacts you requesting to take water samples from your home, immediately notify law enforcement. When possible, provide a description of the individual to assist authorities.

Important Reminder:

Colton Water Utilities ensures water quality by collecting samples from designated locations throughout the water system. Staff will never request access to your residence for water quality inspections.
