(Houston, TX)- On Friday, November 8, 2024, Congressman Al Green, a proud member of LULAC, joins Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia for a dedication ceremony to rename a Houston post office after Benny C. Martinez, a LULAC social justice leader and U.S. Army Korean War era veteran. Congresswoman Garcia, with Congressman Al Green as a co-sponsor, introduced and successfully passed H.R. 203, which designates the United States Postal Service facility located at 4020 Broadway Street in Houston, Texas, as the "Benny C. Martinez Post Office Building."
Congressman Al Green stated, "I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Congresswoman Sylvia Garcia for her tireless advocacy in renaming the post office in honor of Benny C. Martinez. This dedication recognizes his immense contributions as a social justice leader and U.S. Army Veteran and reinforces the values we cherish in our community. It is an honor to join her in celebrating this significant milestone, the post office, which was formerly located in Congresswoman Garcia's district, is currently located in my congressional district. Thank you for your hard work and dedication."
