Sanjay Sampath To Be Honored by American Ceramic Society

Sanjay SampathDistinguished Professor Sanjay Sampath of the Department of Materials Science and Chemical Engineering will receive The American Ceramic Society's (ACerS) 2024 Rishi Raj Medal for Innovation and Commercialization in Ceramics.

The award recognizes a member of the ceramics and glass research community for exceptional discoveries or inventions that can, or have, led to innovative products and or processes. Sampath will receive this award and present his research at the ACerS 126thAnnual Meeting on October 7, 2024, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Sampath is also the director of the Center for Thermal Spray Research, an interdisciplinary industry-partnership in the field of thermal spray materials. The Center is home to the Industrial Consortium for Thermal Spray Technology, which comprises 30 leading companies aimed at knowledge transfer from fundamental research to applications.

Sampath earned his B. Tech in Metallurgy from the Indian Institute of Technology-Banaras Hindu University and his PhD in Materials Science from Stony Brook University.

Sampath has 250 journal publications, 15 patents and has won several best paper awards.
