Maine Dems Statement On Second Congressional District Debate

Maine Democratic Party Chair Bev Uhlenhake released the following statement:

"Tonight, Mainers saw that Jared Golden is the only candidate in this race who is delivering on the issues that matter most to Mainers: lowering costs for our seniors, investing in our communities, and yes - standing up for our right to choose and protecting Mainers' access to abortion, IVF, and contraception.

"Austin Theriault's comments in tonight's debate about reproductive freedom not being an "issue that matters" to Mainers shows exactly what he thinks about Maine voters' top concerns. His record of voting against Mainers' right to choose, and against critical funding for schools, public safety, mental health services, and programs to cut costs for seniors demonstrate that he cares less about solving Mainers' problems than he does about toeing the Republican party line.

"Mainers want a leader in Congress who will fight for them and who has a real record of delivering on the issues they care about most, including protecting Mainers' personal freedoms, which is why they will re-elect Congressman Jared Golden on November 5."
