EVANSTON, Ill. --- Northwestern University professors in the fields of political science, communication and history are available to provide analysis and commentary leading up to and during the Democratic National Convention, beginning Monday, Aug. 19 in Chicago.

Experts:

Tabitha Bonillais an associate professor of political science and a faculty fellow at the Institute for Policy Research at Northwestern. She studies political behavior and communication and broadly examines how elite communication influences voter opinions of candidates and political policies. Her work focuses on important topics in American politics ranging from gun control to human trafficking and immigration. She can be reached at [email protected].

Alvin B. Tillery Jr. is a professor of politics and Black studies and the director of the Center for the Study of Diversity and Democracy at Northwestern. Erik Nisbet is the Owen L. Coon Professor of Policy Analysis & Communication and director of the Center for Communication and Public Policy at Northwestern. Nisbet is an expert on elections, political strategy, misinformation and political violence. He can be reached at [email protected].

Heather Hendershot is a professor of communication studies. Her research focuses on political conventions (her latest book is "When the News Broke: Chicago 1968 and the Polarizing of America"), broadcast media (mainstream and conservative) and political culture. Kevin Boyleis an expert on American history since 1900. The William Smith Mason Professor of American History, his expertise includes the history of the Democratic National Convention in Chicago, economic and labor history, the Civil Rights Movement and political extremism in the early 20th century.
