'People, Pride, and Progress” Take Center Stage at 2024 State of the City

During Moreno Valley's annual State of the City address on Thursday, August 1, Mayor Ulises Cabrera celebrated the City's recent accomplishments and future plans, highlighting the community's spirit, diversity, and progress.

"This year's theme focuses on the "People, Pride, and Progress" that make our community one-of-a-kind, and I am honored to help lead us into a brighter future," said Mayor Cabrera. "Moreno Valley's people are the heart of our community, filling us with immense pride and driving our tremendous progress. Together, we have transformed our city, showcasing the power of unity and innovation."

The Mayor and Council shared several noteworthy accomplishments, including the completion of the $50 million pavement rehabilitation program, the expansion of the electric vehicle fleet to 20 vehicles, the LED Streetlight retrofit program, and the My MoVal Mural program.

Announcing the City's upcoming 40th anniversary celebration, "40 and Soaring", Mayor Cabrera also unveiled an ambitious vision for the next 40 years in Moreno Valley. Key highlights include:

• Transformative infrastructure improvements
• Steadfast focus on public safety
• Continued Parks Rehabilitation and Refurbishment Program, making improvements to all of the City's parks and trails
• Enhanced community programs to increase recreational opportunities
• Community well-being, focusing on mental health, physical wellness, and financial prosperity
• Growing educational initiatives in partnership with local schools and colleges
• Attracting Fortune 500 companies and international businesses, alongside new revenue sources, to bolster the local economy
• Sustainable and sensible building practices will minimize environmental impact
• Creating additional jobs with a skilled workforce prepared for the future

During the event, the City Council unveiled exciting future plans, including the addition of the City's fourth library, the brand new Windsong Park, and the expansion of the Kaiser Permanente Medical Center.

Community Leadership Awards were presented to the following local movers and shakers who made a positive impact on Moreno Valley over the past year:

• Community Non-Profit Partner of the Year Award: Family Service Association.
• Community Contributor of the Year: SoCal United Way
• Healthcare Hero Community Award: Riverside University Health System's Mobile Crisis Response Team
• Excellence in Education Award: Dr. Robin Steinback
• Community Business Member of the Year (Large Business): Aldi
• Community Business Member of the Year (Small Business): Mountain Mike's Pizza
