Statement of Charles University on the Current Flood Situation (15 September 2024)

On the night from Saturday to Sunday, the Central Crisis Staff of Charles University (ÚKŠ CU) was activated, and additional measures were taken to ensure the safety of students, employees, and the academic community. The university leadership is in communication with the faculties and other units. We are monitoring the situation in Prague, Plzeň, and Hradec Králové, and the university is proceeding according to the Crisis Preparedness Plan.

Safety:

Charles University has taken measures to protect the health of its employees and students in its facilities. All employees, participants in university activities, and events currently in the field are safe, and thanks to the implemented preventive measures and regular monitoring, the situation is currently under control. We continue to monitor, evaluate, and take all necessary actions as the situation evolves.

Day-to-day Operations and Teaching:

The university's operations remain unaffected, except for certain training facilities. Teaching and the organisation of ongoing exams and final state exams continue without restrictions. Students directly affected by the flood situation will be handled on an individual basis. Information will be updated in the coming days based on developments.
