DETECTIVES ARREST SUSPECT IN CONNECTION WITH COMMERCIAL ROBBERIES AND BURGLARIES IN NORTH DIVISION

Detectives have made an arrest in connection with recent commercial robberiesand burglariesin the North Division area.

During the recent robberies, the suspect jumped the counter, simulated having a firearm, and would either order or physically force the victim to openthe register.The suspect would then take the cash before fleeing the scene.

Robbery detectives conducted a detailed investigation that included meeting with businessownersand victims, reviewing surveillance footage, and canvassing for additionalevidence related to the robberies, ultimately leadingto identifyingsuspect Tyler IsaacCooper, a 23-year-old resident of Long Beach.

OnSept. 10, 2024, detectives recognized Cooper 5900block of Atlantic Avenue whilethey were conducting a follow-up investigation related to a robbery that took place the day before. He was detained by North Division officers,and subsequentlytransported to Long Beach City Jail wherehe wasbooked for , one count of kidnapping, one count of grand theft property and one count of petty theft. Bail was set at510,000.

"Crime is not tolerated in our city, and we will do all we can to hold individuals accountable for disrupting the safety of our community," said Chief of Police Wally Hebeish. "I want to thank our personnel for their commitment and persistence throughout this investigation."

  • June 16, 2024- 2001 South Street

  • Aug.15, 2024- 6151 Atlantic Avenue

  • Aug.22, 2024- 2001South Street

  • Aug.22, 2024- 4550 Orange Avenue

  • Aug.23, 2024- 1100 block of Redondo Avenue

  • Sept.3, 2024- 6145Long Beach Boulevard

  • .5, 2024- 6151Atlantic Avenue

  • Sept.9, 2024- 6151Atlantic Avenue

Following the arrest, in the city of Long Beach,and detectives seized evidence connected to the robberies.

During their investigation, detectives and crimeDetective Division and Robbery Detail collaborated with North Division crime analysts, and determinedCooper as a suspect responsible for the following commercial burglaries:

  • Jan. 3, 2024 - 5660 Atlantic Avenue

  • Jan. 16, 2024 - 6025 Long Beach Boulevard

  • Jan. 23, 2024 - 6614 Atlantic Avenue

  • Jan. 24, 2023 - 6025 Long Beach Boulevard

  • Feb. 13, 2024 - 6590 Atlantic Avenue

  • Feb. 23, 2024 - 5401 Atlantic Avenue

  • March 4, 2024 - 5020 Long Beach Boulevard

  • March 7, 2024 - 6595 Atlantic Avenue

  • July 18, 2024 - 6590 Atlantic Avenue
