Audacy Podcasts Launches New Season of Edward R. Murrow Award-Winning Documentary Podcast Franchise “Gone South”

Acclaimed Series Expands to 40 Episode Season, With Each Weekly Installment Exploring a Captivating Southern Crime

PHILADELPHIA, PA - October 3, 2024 - Leading premium podcast network Audacy Podcasts today announced the launch of the fourth season of "Gone South," the Edward R. Murrow Award-winning original investigative franchise written and hosted by Jed Lipinski.

The true crime juggernaut won a prestigious Edward R. Murrow Award and has been a fixture on the top podcast charts, bringing in over 10 million downloads to date.

In Season 4, the popular series expands to 40 episodes, with each weekly installment focusing on a different story about one of the South's most interesting crimes. In telling these stories, Lipinski explores and reveals insights not only about crime and the South, but about human nature as well.

"Gone South" Season 4 launched on October 2, 2024, on the Audacy app and everywhere podcasts are available. New episodes will be released weekly on Wednesdays throughout the season. Listen and follow the show here.

Crimes and cases Lipinski explores this season include: a real-life "Breaking Bad" involving DEA Agent Steve Peterson - nicknamed "Batman" - and the hunt for a prolific meth manufacturer in Atlanta; the story of a prisoner serving two life sentences who escapes from notorious Louisiana State Penitentiary, aka Angola; and the University of Georgia student who ran a $1 million Ponzi scheme out of his fraternity house.

"It was a joy to work with Audacy on the first three seasons of 'Gone South,' and my brother and I are honored to be able to continue working with them," said Lipinski. "I come from a reporting background, and getting the chance to write and report 40+ narrative episodes per year is kind of a dream come true."

"Since its launch, 'Gone South' has been an unequivocal hit, thanks to Jed's investigative reporting and storytelling excellence," said Maddy Sprung-Keyser, VP, Head of Original Podcasts, Audacy. "In response to listener and advertiser demand, we're thrilled to expand to a weekly format and reteam with Jed and Tom Lipinski to offer more tales of Southern true crime."

"Gone South: Season Four" is created, written and narrated by Jed Lipinski. Executive Producers are Jed Lipinski, Tom Lipinski, Jenna Weiss-Berman, Maddy Sprung-Keyser, and Lloyd Lochridge.
