On 3rd Anniversary, Sen. Ossoff Releases Bipartisan Infrastructure Law Report for Augusta & East Georgia

Since passage of the historic bipartisan infrastructure law 3 years ago today, East Georgia communities have already received over $365 million in Federal infrastructure investments

Augusta, Ga. - Since passage of the bipartisan infrastructure law three years ago today, Augusta and communities across East Georgia have already received over $365 million in Federal infrastructure funding to upgrade roads, expand high-speed internet, remove lead pipes from drinking water systems, and more.

Today, on the 3rd anniversary of the bipartisan infrastructure law, U.S. Senator Jon Ossoff released a progress report for East Georgia, highlighting the historic upgrades that have been delivered so far, with more to come.

"Three years ago, we brought Republicans and Democrats in Congress together to pass the historic bipartisan infrastructure law, the most significant investment in America's infrastructure since the Eisenhower administration. This law is upgrading our roads, highways, and bridges; removing lead pipes from our drinking water systems; expanding broadband internet access; upgrading our electric grid; rebuilding our airports and our seaports, and more. Our historic bipartisan infrastructure law will continue to deliver for Georgia for years to come," Sen. Ossoff said.

In the last 3 years, Sen. Ossoff and the bipartisan infrastructure law have so far delivered:

• $21.2 million for public transportation needs across Richmond County, including:

• $12 million for Augusta Transit to upgrade their bus fleet with new, low-emission vehicles.

• $1.7 million to plan the redevelopment of the Broad Street Transfer Facility, a critical link for Augusta's transit operations which is in need of serious repair.

• $12 million to eliminate a blocked railroad crossing in Millen to improve emergency services, residents' access to essential services, and efficiency of freight connections.

• $19.4 million for upgrades to airports across the region, including:

• $3 million for a gate rehabilitation project to allow Augusta Regional Airport to serve additional customers.

• $4 million for Augusta Regional Airport to expand their passenger security checkpoint to accommodate growth.

• $750,000 to help build a terminal for general aviation need at Burke County Airport in Waynesboro.

• Over $11 million for bridge rehabilitation and preservation along several major highways and state & local routes, including I-16 and I-20, in Warren, Richmond, and Taliaferro Counties.

• $9 million for low-emission school buses to serve Richmond County students.

• $7.69 million to improve safety and efficiency along Willis Foreman Road, which connects US Routes 1 and 25, connecting Augusta with Macon and Savannah, respectively.

• $1.4 million for pedestrian infrastructure upgrades at several intersections in Taliaferro, Greene, and McDuffie Counties.
