Ruthie Forson Named AVCA Division II National Player of the Week

DURANT, Okla. - Southeastern Oklahoma State's fifth-year setter Ruthie Forson is the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Division II Player of the Week. Forson became the first SE player to receive this award and the first GAC player to win the award since 2019.
Forson, the Great American Conference Setter of the Week, helped lead the Savage Storm to three wins over the week and would reach a milestone of 3,000 career assists and tally the first-ever quadruple-double in the GAC.
The Denton, Texas native got the week going with 38 assists and nine digs in a 3-1 win over Austin College and added eight kills on a .500 attack average. Forson did not slow down heading into a matchup against Harding, as she finished with 35 assists and ten kills on a .429 attacking clip to help the Storm to its first home win over the Lady Bisons since 2014.
Forson capped off an already impressive week, recording 44 assists, 13 kills, 14 digs and a career-high 10.0 total blocks in a back-and-forth five-set win against Arkansas Tech. The Lake Dallas High School product totaled 117 assists, 31 kills, 27 digs and 11.0 total blocks across the three contests.
The Storm return to action later this week with back-to-back matches on the road against Ouachita Baptist and Henderson State on Oct. 17-18.
