The Uniformed Services University (USU) announced the appointment of Dr. Andrew Bean as the Senior Vice President for Academic Operations and Chief Academic Officer (Provost) on October 9. Dr. Bean joins USU with a distinguished background in academic leadership, bringing invaluable experience that will shape the future of our academic enterprise.

Currently serving as Dean of the Graduate College and Vice Provost for Research at Rush University, Dr. Bean has demonstrated exceptional leadership in enhancing academic programs and fostering a supportive environment for students and faculty alike. His accomplishments include revitalizing curricula, championing diversity initiatives, and forging strategic partnerships to advance research efforts.

Prior to his role at Rush University, Dr. Bean held significant positions at MD Anderson/UTHealth Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, where he led initiatives spanning student recruitment, faculty mentorship, and research administration. His impressive academic journey includes obtaining his PhD from Yale University and conducting pioneering research in neuroscience at esteemed institutions such as The Karolinska Institute and Stanford University.

At USU, Dr. Bean will oversee academic planning and policy development, ensuring alignment between the University's educational goals and research missions.
