Emergency Services Expansion update - Oct. 4, 2024

October 4, 2024

Ongoing demolition for the ESE Expansion project will continue to create noise and vibrations at the ANMC hospital.

Construction Update:

Demolition of the entry to the old Emergency Department is tentatively scheduled for the week of October 7. This work will create noise and vibration.

Construction crews continue demolition of the exterior brick on the east side of the ANMC hospital in the north corner, and of existing footings and retaining walls. This work will create noise and vibrations as construction crews remove bricks from the exterior of the building and use jackhammers. Demolition of the old ambulance bay also remains under way.

This week, Phase 1B work also began: Interior framing, gypsum wall board, and insulation are all going up, and the overall phase includes waste piping and ventilation installation, concrete pouring, trenching, and ductwork through the second-floor courtyard.

Reminder: Temporary Emergency Services Department now open
As construction continues to happen elsewhere in the hospital, the Temporary Emergency Services Department (ESD) opened on September 7. Patients should present to the Temporary ESD, located on the southeast side of the hospital.

Access to the Temporary ESD is from the Diplomacy Drive entrance. The Tudor Centre entrance is for emergency vehicle access only. The former Emergency Room entrance is closed for construction.

Parking Update:
Most of the ANMC hospital east parking lot is fenced off for construction activities. Day parking is no longer available in the ANMC hospital east lot, with the exception of limited ADA accessible parking. The remainder of available parking in this area is reserved for ESD patients.
