Geisinger receives grant to support transplant patients, families

Danville, Pa.
- A new yearly grant from Gift of Life will help Geisinger offset some travel expenses for transplant patients and their families.

"Our partnership with Gift of Life has benefited our patients in need of life-saving organ donation," said Kimberly Rohrer, transplant operations director, Geisinger. "This grant will allow us to better support our patients, families and caregivers before, during and after a transplant and allow them to receive care closer to home."

Funds are provided to patients on a case-by-case basis. The grant can be used to purchase gas gift cards and assist with lodging.

The grant supports those who travel for transplant-related services at satellite transplant centers outside Philadelphia, where Gift of Life is located.
