Congressman Pallone Helps Secures Over $188,000 in Federal Funding for Edison Fire Department

Edison, NJ - Congressman Frank Pallone (NJ-06) today announced he has helped to secure $188,407 in federal funding for Edison's Fire Department through the Department of Homeland Security's Fiscal Year 2023 Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program (AFG). This crucial funding, part of the fourth round of competitive FY 2023 AFG announcements, aims to enhance the fire and emergency response capabilities within the Edison community.

"Our firefighters are the backbone of our community, bravely stepping into harm's way to protect us all," said Congressman Pallone. "This grant for the Edison Fire Department is not just an investment in their safety and effectiveness, but a commitment to the well-being of every Edison resident. This funding will empower our first responders with the tools and training they need to continue their heroic work."

"Thank you, Congressman Frank Pallone, for helping Edison secure over $188,000 in funds for the Assistance to Firefighters Grant Program," said Mayor Sam Joshi. "This will significantly enhance our firefighting capabilities, ensuring that our brave first responders have improved safety and resources they need to protect our community. We are grateful for this investment in our public safety and committed to using these funds to further safeguard our first responders and residents."

The $188,407 will be used to support the Fire Department's operations and safety projects, which may include professional training, wellness and fitness programs, equipment, and personal protective equipment (PPE).

Since 2001, the AFG program has provided approximately $8.4 billion in grants to support the fire and emergency response community, helping first responders to obtain critically needed resources necessary for protecting the public and emergency personnel from fire and related hazards.
