Commission Invites Questions On Jail Annex Review

Sacramento County's Community Review Commission (CRC) invites the public to send questions beforehand and/or participate and give feedback in its July 16 meeting at 6 p.m., when the Commission welcomes CGL Companies to talk about its peer review of the County's jail annex project.

The public can submit questions via email at [email protected]. The deadline for submitting questions in advance is Friday, July 12.

By way of background, during a Board of Supervisors meeting last year, the Board raised concerns about the estimated cost of the jail annex project. County leadership then put a hold on all planning activities for the annex while the County sought the expertise of a third party to perform a peer review of the project.

CGL, the company chosen as the most qualified firm to perform the review, is in the process of reviewing the project's documentation. CGL will look for efficiencies in the project and make recommendations as to whether the project scope can be reduced and still achieve compliance with the Mays Consent Decree.
The public is also invited to review the Community Review Commission's Annual Review Report, which highlights the activities of the Commission from July 1, 2023, to June 30, 2024.
Additionally, at the July 16 meeting, the CRC will discuss its process for selecting focus areas for the 2024-25 year. The Commission encourages the community to assist in identifying possible focus areas by making a public comment at the meeting. Commenters are invited to suggest topics or concerns involving the Sheriff's Office operations, policies, or procedures for the Commission's consideration. Public comments may be made during the meeting in person or by telephone at (669) 254-5252, Webinar ID: 161 171 9768. Public comments may also be submitted by emailing [email protected].
The Commission meets in the Board Chambers at 700 H Street, Sacramento. Commission meetings are also streamed online. Sign up for meeting notifications to be informed when a new agenda is posted.
