McConnell Celebrates Renovated Barracks at Fort Campbell

August27, 2024

FORT CAMPBELL - U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) delivered remarks today during the barracks ribbon-cutting ceremony at Fort Campbell. As a senior member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, Senator McConnell advocated on behalf of Fort Campbell to secure federal resources in the Fiscal Year 2023 government funding bill. The Senator secured $135 million in federal funding to renovate near 50-year-old barracks.

"As our nation's premier fighting force, the 101st deserves the best and finest facilities we can provide. I am proud to say that these new and improved barracks meet that mark. As a senior member on the Senate Appropriations Committee, I was proud to secure $135 million in funding for this project, helping accomplish in one year what was scheduled to take almost a decade to finish," said Senator McConnell. "Investments like these increase the lethality of our force and help make progress in reversing decades of decline in our defense. There's certainly more work to do to rebuild the arsenal of democracy, and I'll keep making the case for American strength every time I get the chance."
