Congressman Bennie G. Thompson Invites the Southern Voices of Unity Choir to Perform at the Annual CBCF Gospel Extravaganza

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Bennie G. Thompson (MS02) is proud to announce the invitation of the Southern Voices of Unity (SVU) Choir to perform at the Annual Congressional Black Caucus Foundation (CBCF) Gospel Extravaganza. The SVU Choir, a powerful symbol of unity and strength, will take the stage on Thursday, September 12, 2024, at 8:00 p.m. at the United House of Prayer for All People in Washington, D.C.

The Southern Voices of Unity was born out of a shared desire among its members to unite the community through the power of music and faith. Founded on the principles of love, faith, strength, and resilience, the SVU Choir embodies the spirit of the deep South. The choir's mission is to lead, inspire, and empower believers and nonbelievers by sharing the Gospel through song.

"Because of a simple conversation, this group is blossoming into a beautiful bouquet of Kingdom minded individuals that hail from various backgrounds, churches, states, and denominations. Many would think that such a group could not come to fruition in this climate of divisiveness, but the ties and foundational biblical truths that bind us are so much stronger than what separates us. Thus, unity is the strength of God's people," said SVU Choir Biography.

The CBCF Gospel Extravaganza is an annual event that celebrates the rich traditions of Gospel music and its powerful role in African American culture. This year, the Southern Voices of Unity Choir is set to deliver a performance that will resonate deeply with all in attendance, reminding us that unity and faith can overcome any challenge.

"It is my pleasure to invite the Southern Voices of Unity Choir. Every year, I am excited to showcase the talent of Mississippi's Second Congressional District to all guests of the Gospel Extravaganza. The Southern Voices of Unity is a Mississippi gem, and I am honored to host them this year," Thompson said.
