Members of Rogers State University's competitive robotics team - the RoboClaws - will be heading to the University of Kansas this weekend to compete against nearly a dozen other universities in the LEEP Higher VEX University Robotics Competition (VURC).
Slated throughout the day on Saturday, Nov. 23, this event allows RSU's robotics team to step onto a national stage in showcasing their technical skills, teamwork, and innovation in robotics design and programming in a competition against much larger teams from nationally known universities and institutions.
The RSU team will be competing against teams from University of Kansas, Texas Tech University, South Dakota State University, North Dakota State University, University of Colorado - Colorado Springs, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Colorado School of Mines, and a team from Benghazi, Libya.
Ten RoboClaws team members from the university's departments of Technology and Justice Studies, Business, and Biology will be competing. Team members include Ben Allina, Colt Grubbs, Cristal Murillo, Jacob Martin, Patric Stuthers, Reece Dodson, Sara Karamitis, Sayre Bennett, Bailey Kleeman and Shea Brandt.
The team departs from RSU's Claremore campus Friday, Nov. 22, and returns Sunday, Nov. 24.
