MoDOT to Hold Public Meeting to Discuss BB/Y Intersection in Sikeston, MO

TODAY--July 16

SIKESTON-The Missouri Department of Transportation will hold a public meeting from 4 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, July 16 to discuss plans to improve the Route BB/Y intersection in Sikeston, Missouri. The meeting will be held at MoDOT's District Office, located at 2675 North Main Street in Sikeston, Missouri.

The proposed project includes constructing a roundabout at the intersection. Currently, the intersection has stop control on Route BB with traffic on Route Y moving freely.

Roundabouts allow traffic to flow with little to no stopping, resulting in calmer traffic and reducing the likelihood of severe crashes.

Tentatively, the project is expected to be let in spring 2025. Construction could begin as early as summer 2025. Work will be staged to allow the intersection to remain open with minor impacts as tie-ins to the existing roadway are completed. Completion is anticipated in winter 2025.

The public meeting will be open house style, and visitors can stop-by anytime between 4 and 6 p.m. to discuss the details of the project with the project team.

A project webpage with the meeting handout, exhibits, and an opportunity to comment is available at www.modot.org/bbysikeston. Comments will be accepted through July 30.
