Clearfield, PA - On Friday, September 13, representatives from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 2 and the Pennsylvania Traffic Injury Prevention Program (TIPP) will hold a "Car Seat Round Up" to collect children's car seats that are expired, damaged, or unsafe so that they may be properly disposed of. The event is planned for 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM on Friday, September 13, at the Centre County PennDOT Maintenance Headquarters at 1000 East Bishop Street, Bellefonte.

The first 20 families to bring in an unsafe car seat will receive a coupon for a free 10-inch cheese pizza, courtesy of Pizza Mia, 106 North Main Street in Bellefonte.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) estimates there are misuses in nearly half (46 percent) of all car seat installations. Their data also shows car seats reduce the risk of fatal injury by 71 percent for infants and by 54 percent for toddlers when correctly installed.
