Highway Resurfacing to be Completed on Route 477 in Clinton County, Continues on Route 445 in Centre County

​Clearfield, Pa. - The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced that a highway resurfacing project on Route 477 in Clinton County is scheduled for completion the week of September 9. This project will improve the ride quality and extend the life of the roadway.

On Tuesday, September 10, and Wednesday, September 11, application of rumble strips and final line painting is scheduled for Route 477 (Long Run Road) between the bridge spanning Long Run in Lamar Township and Brungard Road in Green Township. Flaggers in the roadway will provide traffic control during daylight hours. Drivers should anticipate short travel delays during daylight hours while work takes place. PennDOT urges drivers to exercise caution and to be alert for construction vehicles making sudden stops.

This project is part of a group paving job also intended to improve roadways in Centre County including Route 445 (Pike Road) where paving is scheduled to begin on Monday, September 9, from the intersection of Route 64 to the intersection of Route 192 in Walker Township. Guide rail installation will follow after paving is completed later in September. Flaggers in the roadway will provide traffic control during daylight hours. Drivers should anticipate short travel delays during daylight hours while work takes place. PennDOT urges drivers to exercise caution, to be alert for construction vehicles making sudden stops, and not to follow construction vehicles into the closed lane as they deliver material.

Other routes in Centre County scheduled for improvement as part of this group paving job include:

• Route 45 (Shingletown Road)

• Route 144 (Snow Shoe Mountain Road) in Snow Shoe Township.
• Route 9109 (approaching South Atherton Street from Shingletown Road)

Overall work on this project includes highway resurfacing, drainage improvements, guide rail replacement, pavement marking, and miscellaneous construction. Glenn O. Hawbaker Inc. of State College is the contractor on this $5 million project. PennDOT anticipates completion in November. All work is weather and schedule dependent.
