Gainesville Theatre Alliance announces 2024-25 season
The Gainesville Theatre Alliance announced four shows for the upcoming 2024-25 season: The True Story of the Three Little Pigs, A Monster Calls, Macbeth, and Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein.
Two shows will take place at Brenau venues. The True Story of the Three Little Pigs will perform in Pearce Auditorium from Oct. 5-12; Macbeth will be produced in the Hosch Theatre in the John S. Burd Center for Performing Arts from Feb. 14-22.
A Monster Calls will run Nov. 8-16, and Young Frankenstein will run April 11-19, both in the Ed Cabell Theatre on the University of North Georgia-Gainesville campus.
Season ticket packages and individual show tickets are on sale now.
The Gainesville Theatre Alliance is a one-of-a-kind, nationally-recognized collaboration between Brenau and UNG.

When the Big, Bad Wolf takes the stand in Piggsylvania's Trial of the Century, he finally gets his say. But whether he'll get a fair trial in a corrupt piggy court is anyone's guess. Will the pigs' splashy puppet show make a puppet out of justice, or is the wolf's catchy song and dance about a sneeze gone wrong all razzle-dazzle? Enter the jury box and decide the wolf's fate in this musical adaptation of the hit children's book.
Produced and performed with young theater-goers in mind, this show also offers daytime performances for local schools. Reservations for class shows are now open.

A Monster Calls

Conor has the same dream every night, ever since his mother fell ill and started treatments that don't seem to be working. But tonight, there's a visitor at his window, and it wants the most dangerous thing of all: the truth. This powerful theatrical adaptation, brought to life through inventive staging, explores the complexities of loss and the strength found in confronting the truth.
This show is recommended for ages 13-plus for intense emotional themes.
Based on the novel by Patrick Ness and inspired by an original idea by Siobhan Dowd; devised by Sally Cookson, Adam Peck and the Company.
Macbeth

Valiant Scottish general Macbeth meets three witches who predict he will become Thane of Cawdor and then King of Scotland, igniting in him a desire for power. As Macbeth and his wife seize power through a series of bloody deeds, they are led down a path of murder, madness, and eventual ruin. Shakespeare's timeless and compelling tragedy dramatizes the effects of political ambition on those who seek power.
The play itself comes with a superstition. Instead of speaking the name of the play and incurring bad luck, many actors and crew members refer to it as "The Scottish Play."
William Shakespeare's classic tragedy is recommended for ages 13-plus for violence and dark psychological themes.
Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein

April 11-19, 2025
From the creators of Broadway sensation The Producers comes this monster musical comedy, adapted from the legendary film. Grandson of the infamous Victor Frankenstein, Frederick Frankenstein inherits his family's estate in Transylvania. With the help of a hunchbacked sidekick and a leggy lab assistant, Frederick brings his own monster to life. Scientifically proven, monstrously good entertainment!
Recommended for ages 15-plus for sexual innuendo and mild language.
