Lexi Alvarado, senior admission counselor in The University of Toledo Office of Undergraduate Admissions, recently received the "New Member Award" from the Ohio Association for College Admission Counseling (OACAC) given to a college admission professional within their first five years in the profession.

Each year, OACAC recognizes extraordinary members who exceed expectations to support high school students and their preparation for post-secondary pursuits.

Lexi Alvarado, senior admission counselor in The University of Toledo Office of Undergraduate Admissions, recently received the "New Member Award" from the Ohio Association for College Admission Counseling.

"I am honored to be this year's recipient of the OACAC 'New Member Award,' and I'm grateful for the opportunity to do this really important work and represent The University of Toledo on a state and national level," Alvarado said. "I have been on two conference committees, the Inclusion, Access and Success committee and recently stepped into a role on the executive board as a co-chair for Guiding the Way to Inclusion, planning and executing a one-day conference surrounding diversity, equity and inclusion in our profession.

"I want to impact change in our profession and OACAC and The University of Toledo have given me a great space and opportunity to do so," she added. "I am looking forward to what is next."

"UToledo is fortunate to have someone like Lexi who cares so much about the students we serve," said Christy Sevier, assistant vice president of Undergraduate Admissions. "It is great to see seasoned professionals see the value in Lexi's passion and dedication to the profession."

The OACAC is a membership organization that focuses on how to best serve students throughout the college search process. OACAC members include admission professionals from colleges and universities, high school counselors, independent education consultants, community-based organizations, graduate students and business partners who work to raise awareness for post-secondary opportunities for students.
