Today is National Voter Registration Day

Dear Temple students,

Civic participation is a core value of being a citizen of the United States, and voting is one of the most important ways we participate. It also aligns with Temple University's mission of preparing our students to be active and engaged citizens.

Today is National Voter Registration Day, a nonpartisan civic event celebrating our democracy. For many of you, this may be your first opportunity to vote in a presidential election, and we are here to support and assist you in this process. Temple joins hundreds of other organizations nationwide in celebrating this day and encouraging you to register to vote.

To provide information and answer as many of your questions as possible, we encourage you to familiarize yourself with Temple Votes, a nonpartisan initiative led by a committee of students, faculty, administrators and voter education organizations. The Temple community has a strong tradition of active civic engagement and voting, and Temple Votes was recently recognized by the ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge with the Highly Established Action Plan Seal, which demonstrates the university's commitment to nonpartisan democratic engagement. We hope you will find Temple Votes to be a useful resource for making informed decisions.

Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro joins us in encouraging you to register and to vote. In this message to the commonwealth's college students, Governor Shapiro reminds us that Pennsylvania is the birthplace of our democracy, and the commonwealth thrives when we all take part in the democratic process. The importance of making your voice heard, no matter who you cast your ballot for, cannot be overstated.

As a student attending college in Pennsylvania, you can register to vote at either your pre-college home address or your current, new address here at Temple. To register or to confirm your current registration, visit vote.gov. If you have moved since you previously registered, you will need to update your registration with your current address at vote.gov.
