D 4 Anti Crime Unit Recovered Trafficking Amounts of Fentanyl

At about 9:34 AM, on Monday, July 22, 2024, officers assigned to the Anti-Crime Unit of District D-4 (South End) arrested Brandon Costa, 28, of Boston, on drug trafficking charges.

Officers were on patrol in the area of Massachusetts Avenue and Melnea Cass Boulevard to address the ongoing quality of life issues. Officers observed a male individual who they knew had an active warrant for his arrest.

Officers approached the suspect walking in front of 794 Massachusetts Avenue and observed him gripping what appeared to be a plastic bag. Officers stopped the suspect and recovered the plastic bag that contained thirteen plastic bags of Fentanyl, and one plastic bag of Crack Cocaine. Officers placed the suspect into handcuffs, and recovered another bag of fentanyl from his right shorts pocket. The Fentanyl was later determined to weigh 22 grams.

Costa was placed under arrest and charged with Trafficking of Class A, and possession of Class B. He is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
