WEX celebrates World EV Day by welcoming AmpUp and Blink to EV charging network

Today on World EV Day, WEX announces the addition of two leading electric vehicle (EV) charging brands - AmpUp and Blink Charging - to its en route charging network in the U.S. This expands WEX's EV charging network to approximately 130,000 public chargers nationwide.

"For the estimated 19.4 million commercial vehicles that WEX services worldwide, we continue to integrate EV functionality and ease into existing offerings - empowering organizations to manage EVs alongside traditional internal combustion engine vehicles fueled with gasoline, as part of a mixed-energy fleet," said Jay Collins, SVP & GM, EV & Mobility at WEX.

WEX's network of EV charging stations across the U.S. now includes: AmpUp, Blink Charging, ChargePoint, EV Connect, EVgo, and FLO, with further growth expected in the coming months. Additionally, WEX is accepted by 95 percent of retail fuel locations nationwide.

"WEX's already robust EV charging network in the U.S. is bolstered by the addition of these leading brands, offering convenient, reliable EV charging on the go," said Libby Bittman, WEX's director of business development for EV mobility. "We continue to innovate to add to the breadth and depth of WEX's commercial EV and mixed-energy fleet solutions, allowing us to meet each customer where they are on their EV journey. Organizations that rely on WEX can confidently and seamlessly integrate mixed-energy fleets of electric and traditionally fueled vehicles, supporting a balance of innovation, operational reliability, and efficiency."

Commercial drivers can initiate an en route EV charging session via WEX's DriverDash mobile app or the WEX EV RFID card. WEX's proprietary closed loop payments network increases the security of each transaction and transmits charging behavior, driver identification information, and vehicle mileage to the fleet manager.

"By enabling WEX payments on participating AmpUp-managed chargers, we're opening up new possibilities for both companies," said Tom Sun, CEO and co-founder of AmpUp. "EV fleet vehicles using WEX can now access AmpUp's highly reliable charging network, while our customers have the opportunity to increase their charger utilization and revenue. It's a win-win that furthers our mission of making EV charging more accessible, reliable, and profitable for all stakeholders in the ecosystem."

"WEX's innovation echoes our own commitment at Blink. By collaborating with WEX and aligning with their focus on mixed-energy fleets, we are steadfast in our goal to drive the global electrification of transportation and energy independence for all," said Brendan Jones, CEO of Blink Charging. "Through these collaborative efforts, we are paving the way for a balanced and sustainable future in transportation."
