Women’s Equality Day Spotlight: Rosalyn Johnson

Describe your job in a sentence or two. As an Equipment Specialist it's my job to ensure that all of my site's equipment is properly maintained and to help the equipment operators with their licensing.

How long have you worked for the federal government including military service? 5 1/2 years to include military time.

What is your favorite thing about your line of work? Always being busy.

What is the best piece of advice someone has given you? Always believe in yourself.

What do you think about when you hear Women's Equality Day? Making sure that women are treated the same as men.

Why is it important to you that we celebrate Women's Equality Day? To show women that we are appreciated for our contributions to the workforce.

What challenges do women face today and how can understanding history help us overcome them? Women today are facing the challenge of having their bodily autonomy being taken from them. Being treated fairly in the workplace including earning the same pay for the exact same work as men.

Who's your biggest influence? Mom.

What was your first job? My first job was working the drive-thru window at McDonald's.

What did you want to be when you grew up? Fighter pilot.

Who is your hero? Mom.

What are your hobbies? Reading and spending time with family and friends.
