Soterra and BioWay

Last week, at the SAF (Society of American Foresters) National Convention, Martin Sweeney, Land Resource Forester at Soterra, had the opportunity to demonstrate how BioWay can lead us to a more sustainable future through a 30-minute presentation among leaders in the forest industry. Forestry professionals now have the chance to adopt innovative practices that reduce environmental impact, protect water resources, and preserve ecosystems for future generations.

Martin is excited about the partnership that Soterra has with BioWay, a biodegradable soil stabilizer, which enables analyzation and optimization of our operations to achieve better results, reduce waste, and enhance our sustainability efforts.

Traditional forestry roads often rely on the mining of aggregates that could lead to siltation and erosion that harm nearby waterways and ecosystems.

BioWay offers a comprehensive approach to sustainable forestry and road construction. It maintains soil integrity, effectively preventing sediment from entering waterways and safeguarding aquatic life. By decreasing the dependency on mined aggregates, BioWay significantly reduces carbon emissions associated with mining and transportation. Its cost-effectiveness is remarkable, saving up to 80% of construction costs compared to traditional methods, making sustainability an affordable option. Furthermore, a single 50 lb. bag of BioWay can replace up to 250 dump trucks of aggregate, minimizing land disturbances and heavy truck emissions. BioWay also enhances fire resilience by creating natural firebreaks through the prevention of roadside vegetation growth, aiding in the control of wildfire spread. Additionally, it provides seasonal versatility by converting summer logging roads into winter-ready roads, responsibly expanding harvest windows.

BioWay is not just a product; it's a step towards a sustainable future for forestry and water conservation.

Let us build a more sustainable future together-one that ensures our rivers, forests, and wildlife continue to thrive for generations to come.
