Weekly Lane Closure Advisory for the Transform 285/400 Project

WHAT: Weather permitting, Georgia Department of Transportation contractors will close lanes on I-285 eastbound and westbound and SR 400 northbound and southbound for construction activities. Travel restrictions include possible delays, reduced speeds, and detours in some areas.

*NOTES: Work schedule updates can be made daily. Check the project web page often for the latest updates. Detour information is shown using red text.
Closures marked with **/++ - Only one of these closures will be implemented.

WHEN/WHERE: Traffic Impacts on I-285 and SR 400 from December 9, through December 16, 2024

Daytime Closures:

Tuesday, December 10, to Friday, December 13, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • One, left lane on SR 400 northbound from Spalding Drive to North Springs MARTA Station
Continuous Weekend Closures: (Friday, December 13, 9 p.m. to Monday, December 16, 5 a.m.)

Closures and Detours:

Roswell Road to I-285 westbound (Detour Map)
  • Motorists traveling on Roswell Road to I-285 westbound should use I-285 eastbound and Exit 26 Glenridge Drive to access I-285 westbound.
Hammond Drive to SR 400 northbound (Detour Map)
  • Motorists traveling on Hammond Drive to SR 400 northbound should use Peachtree Dunwoody Road, Barfield Drive, and Abernathy Road to access SR 400 northbound.
Overnight Closures:

Monday, December 9, from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • One, right lane on I-285 westbound at SR 400
  • Two, right lanes on SR 400 southbound at I-285
Closures and Detours:

I-285 westbound to SR 400 southbound (Detour Map)
  • Motorists traveling on I-285 westbound to SR 400 southbound should use Exit 27 SR 400 northbound and Exit 5 Abernathy Road to access SR 400 southbound.
Tuesday, December 10, 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • One, right lane on I-285 westbound at SR 400
  • Two, right lanes on SR 400 northbound from Windsor Parkway to Northland Drive
  • Two, right lanes on SR 400 northbound from I-285 to Hammond Drive
Closures and Detours:

SR 400 southbound to Glenridge Connector (Detour Map)
  • Motorists traveling on SR 400 southbound to Glenridge Connector should use Exit 2 Lenox Road and SR 400 northbound to access Exit 3 Glenridge Connector.
Wednesday, December 11, 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Two, right lanes on I-285 westbound at Glenridge Drive
  • Two, right lanes on SR 400 northbound from Windsor Parkway to Northland Drive
  • One, left lane on SR 400 northbound CD lanes at Abernathy Road
  • One, right lane on Abernathy Road eastbound at SR 400
  • One, left lane on Abernathy Road westbound from SR 400 to Mercedes-Benz Drive
Closures and Detours:

  • Motorists traveling on I-285 westbound to SR 400 southbound should use Exit 27 SR 400 northbound and Exit 5 Abernathy Road to access SR 400 southbound.
**Abernathy Road to SR 400 southbound (Detour Map)
  • Motorists traveling on Abernathy Road to SR 400 southbound should use SR 400 northbound and Exit 6 Northridge Drive to access SR 400 southbound.
Ashford Dunwoody Road to I-285 westbound (Detour Map)
  • Motorists traveling on Ashford Dunwoody Road to I-285 westbound should use I-285 eastbound and Exit 30 Chamblee Dunwoody Road to access I-285 westbound.
**I-285 westbound to Peachtree Dunwoody Road (Detour Map)
  • Motorists traveling on I-285 westbound to Peachtree Dunwoody Road should use Exit 27A SR 400 northbound and Exit 5 Abernathy Road to access Peachtree Dunwoody Road.
I-285 eastbound to Roswell Road (Detour Map)
  • Motorists traveling on I-285 Roswell Road should use Exit 26 Glenridge Drive and Glenridge Drive to access Roswell Road.
  • Alternate Route: Motorists traveling on I-285 eastbound to Roswell Road should use Exit 26 Glenridge Drive and Hammond Drive to access Roswell Road.
Hammond Drive to SR 400 northbound (Detour Map)
  • Motorists traveling on Hammond Drive to SR 400 northbound should use Peachtree Dunwoody Road, Barfield Drive, and Abernathy Road to access SR 400 northbound.

  • Motorists traveling on Ashford Dunwoody Road to I-285 westbound should use I-285 eastbound and Exit 30 Chamblee Dunwoody Road to access I-285 westbound.
**I-285 westbound to Peachtree Dunwoody Road (Detour Map)
  • Motorists traveling on I-285 westbound to Peachtree Dunwoody Road should use Exit 27A SR 400 northbound and Exit 5 Abernathy Road to access Peachtree Dunwoody Road.
**SR 400 northbound CD lanes to Abernathy Road (Detour Map)
  • Motorists traveling on SR 400 northbound CD lanes to Abernathy Road should use Northridge Road and SR 400 southbound to access Abernathy Road.
Lake Forrest Drive at I-285 Full Closure (Detour Map)
  • Motorists traveling on Lake Forrest Drive northbound should use Northwood Drive, Kingsport Drive (road changes to Lake Placid Drive), Roswell Road, Cliftwood Drive, Sandy Springs Circle, and Allen Road to access Lake Forrest Drive northbound.
  • Motorists traveling on Lake Forrest Drive southbound should use Allen Road, Roswell Road and Northwood Drive to access Lake Forrest Drive southbound.

Lake Forrest Drive at I-285 Full Closure (Detour Map)
  • Motorists traveling on Lake Forrest Drive northbound should use Northwood Drive, Kingsport Drive (road changes to Lake Placid Drive), Roswell Road, Cliftwood Drive, Sandy Springs Circle, and Allen Road to access Lake Forrest Drive northbound.
  • Motorists traveling on Lake Forrest Drive southbound should use Allen Road, Roswell Road and Northwood Drive to access Lake Forrest Drive southbound.
