Santa Clara County Reps Announce Nearly $35M in Federal Funding for COVID 19 Related Expenditures

SAN JOSE, CA - Today, U.S. Representatives Zoe Lofgren (CA-18), Anna Eshoo (CA-16), Ro Khanna (CA-17), and Jimmy Panetta (CA-19) announced that the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) is reimbursing the City of San Jose and Santa Clara County for a total of $34,496,113.53 for emergency health and safety expenditures incurred as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

"During the COVID-19 health emergency, San Jose and Santa Clara County officials worked quickly and efficiently to deliver important resources to our communities, including masks, vaccinations, and housing support. We applaud this federal investment that will help cover part of the costs associated with these health measures, and we continue to call for additional reimbursements," said Reps. Lofgren, Eshoo, Khanna, and Panetta.

The City of San Jose will receive $4,824,954.73 and Santa Clara County will receive $29,671,158.80 in federal reimbursements.

This funding was authorized by the Stafford Disaster Relief and Emergency Assistance Act and appropriated through the Continuing Appropriations and Extensions Act of 2025, which Reps. Lofgren, Eshoo, Khanna, and Panetta voted for.

This announcement follows recent, similar reimbursement news. Reps. Lofgren, Eshoo, Khanna, and Panetta announced $65,142,877.75 in May 2024, $27,243,534.79 in June 2024, and $45,185,047.39 in July 2024, and $20,215,809.46 in September 2024 for COVID-19-related expenditures for Santa Clara County.
