United States Debt Surpasses $35 Trillion

This week, our national debt hit another troubling milestone, surpassing 35 trillion dollars.

That's 35 followed by 12 zeros.

$35,000,000,000,000

Since Joe Biden and Kamala Harris have been in office, the national debt has increasedby over $7 trillion. To put that into perspective, every living adult now owes roughly $135,000 for their share of the national debt. The national debt has reached a calamitous level, more than tripling in the last decade. I reiterate my call for a balanced budget.Without significant fiscal changes, trillions more will be added to the national debt. This debt crisis is unsustainable. We cannot continue to print money and spend our way out of this mess. Unfortunately, the Biden-Harris administration and liberal Congressional Democrats think the solution is even more spending, raising taxes and growing the size of the federal government. That is the exact wrong answer that got us into this mess. Our country would be much better served by cutting wasteful spending to reduce the national debt and putting the budget on a sustainable long-term path.

Gosar Demands Answers from Phoenix VA Regarding Response Failures

This week, in response to the Veterans Affairs Office of Inspector General publishing a reportoutlining the Phoenix VA's inability to administer basic life support to an unresponsive veteran in the campus parking lot, I lead an effort joined by several of my colleagues in the Arizona Congressional Delegationexpressing our grave concern with the findings and demanding much better from the Phoenix VA. Unfortunately, the Phoenix VA has a troubling history of ongoing patient care issues and has been the subject of scandal and subsequent OIG investigations for extensive wait times, emergency room deaths, delays and lapses in follow-up care, and more. This is not a series of coincidental errors within the medical center. Arizona's veterans put their lives at risk defending our freedom, they deserve so much better from the Phoenix VA!

Gosar and Biggs Question VA on Veteran Healthcare Resources

Speaking of the Veterans Affairs, this week I joined my colleague and good friend, Representative Biggs in questioning the significant discrepancies in information provided recently by the VA and local VA facilities regarding the availability of healthcare resources for our veterans. Last month, the VA gave multiple conflicting statements to veterans and VA caseworkers in Arizona about the budget, referrals to community care, and a hiring freeze affecting timely appointments. In one instance, VA officials noted there would be an estimated $2.88 billion shortfall for FY 2024 in addition to $11.97 billion in FY 2025. Yet, in another instance, VA officials stated there is money for community care and the information previously given was incorrect but declined to provide accounting information to disprove these claims. These contradictory statements are extremely problematic. In response, Congressman Biggs and I are demanding the VA provide details of the current budget allocation for community care referrals at the Phoenix VA. It is critically important that the VA provide transparent and reliable communication between the Department of Veterans Affairs, local VA facilities, and veterans seeking healthcare, especially concerning community care and timely appointments. These conflicting reports not only undermine the trust veterans have in the VA system but also jeopardizes their access to healthcare. I will report back on this critical issue soon.

Gosar Gets Around Town

This week I had the privilege to tour New Freedom in central Arizona. New Freedom is a converted 248-room hotel that is a home to provide folks with everything needed to begin their path to recovery and re-entry.The first-of-its-kind behavioral health retreat focuses on the self-worth of every individual who enters the facility. Many thanks to the wonderful people at New Freedom for opening their doors to me and sharing the amazing work they do every day!

It's Mail Time!

I received over 4,600 letters last month. I do my best to respond to everyone, even those who disagree with me! Here are a few letters I received this week:

Pamela C. from Surprise writes, in part:

Dear Representative Gosar, I want you to know that I was disgusted by the blasphemous Last Supper depiction that was featured on NBC's coverage of the Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony. As disturbing as it was to see the Christian faith mocked, it was equally disturbing to know that families with children were subjected to seeing obscene and indecent acts over our airwaves.

Dear Pam,as a Christian, I condemn the controversial scene where Jesus is played by an obese woman and the Apostles are played by drag queens and trannies. Bishop Robert Barron of the Diocese of Winona-Rochester called ita "… gross mockery of the Last Supper." Paris Olympic organizers "apologized" for the scene, however Bishop Barron aptly notedthat it was "anything but an apology." I have to agree.

I call to mindMatthew 26:26-28 (NRSVCE)which describes the institution of the Lord's Supper. In this part of Matthew's Gospel, Jesus takes bread and says "[t]ake, eat; this is my body." He then takes a cup and says "[d]rink from it, all of you; for this is my blood of thecovenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins." No doubt the Olympic scene willingly produced a mockery of one of the most important acts by Jesus. Christians everywhere deserve better. Despite the bizarre and woke opening ceremonies, I have enjoyed watching and cheering on our athletes at the Olympics in Paris this week. The Olympics are meant to be enjoyed by people of all ages; it's too bad Olympic organizers ruined the opening ceremonies by mocking Christians.

Frederic W. from Fort Mohave, AZ wrote in:

You need to get your colleagues to reverse the TITILE IX rule allowing men in women's bathrooms, don't be fooled by the crap Biden and Harris are spewing about equality, it's immoral and unsafe.

Fred, I'm with you 100%. The Biden - Harris Administration has even said it will withhold the federal funding needed to feed 21 million school children if schools do not interpret discrimination on the basis of sex under Title IX to mean discrimination on "gender identity." In other words, if schools will not allow men in women's bathrooms and men in women's sports, kids go hungry. So, Biden wants children to believe they can switch genders, or they starve. Stalin would be proud.

The Biden - Harris administration is perverse. They think children should be allowed to remove their sexual organs and be chemically castrated, losing their fertility forever. Those practices are barbaric and should be outlawed. They believe children should be taught that they can change genders and that it is ok to have two mommies or two daddies. They believe disgusting sexual images too graphic to discuss on this email should be shown to young children. They start young with this perversion because they know that children's brain are so easily influenced and adults would never buy the lies. For goodness' sake, children believe in the Tooth Fairy and Santa Claus. They have no defense against these evil ideas. Schools that indoctrinate like this should not receive a penny of federal dollars. Really, those who would pollute children's minds in this manner deserve prison. As the Bible says, "whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone hung around his neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea."

Margaret G. from Lake Havasu City, AZ questions:

I am hoping to hear Dr. Gosar's take on the prisoner release. One thing that's not clear is that one report says Biden was involved in the negotiation and another report says he was not. Shouldn't he be involved? Looking for your thoughts.

Margaret, I support efforts to bring home Americans unjustly imprisoned, including those that were released this week after being illegally held by Putin. Twenty-four prisoners from six different countries were involved in the swap, including Russia, the United States and Germany. Let's be very clear: innocent Americans were purposely jailed and used as hostages to trade for murders and assassins. In that respect, I do have concerns that Joe Biden traded innocent Americans in exchange for horrific and brutal criminals, which will likely encourage further hostage taking. You might be interested in knowing that multiple news outlets reported that Joe Biden almost botched the prisoner exchange because he has no idea what is going on and that Secretary Blinken was in charge of the prisoner swap.Given Biden's obvious mental decline, I suspect this reporting to be accurate. By comparison, in 2018, President Trump secured the releases of three Americans from North Korean. No prisoner swap was necessary, just strong leadership. Nevertheless, any time our citizens are freed is something we should all agree is a good thing.
