2024 GVEA District 7 Runoff Election Results

This afternoon, GVEA's Election Committee certified the results of the 2024 Board of Directors District 7 run-off election.

In accordance with GVEA's current Bylaws, a run-off election was held between the two candidates who received the most votes in the election ending June 4, Todd Adams and Krista Zappone. Voting in the runoff election opened to all District 7 members on June 21 and closed on July 16 at 5 p.m.

Here are the results:

  • Krista Zappone received the most votes between the two candidates.
  • Of the 1,119 ballots mailed, 280 valid ballots were cast, a 25% return.
    • Krista Zappone: 144 votes / 51.43%
    • Todd Adams: 136 votes / 48.57%

Congratulationsto Krista Zappone, who will be officially seated on the GVEA Board of Directors at the July 23, 2024, board meeting. Our sincere appreciation also goes to Todd Adams, who dutifully served on GVEA's board for the last three years. We recognize the commitment and dedication required to campaign and thank both candidates for their willingness to serve the membership.

One of the major advantages of being a member of an electric cooperative is local, democratic governance. Every GVEA member has a vote in director elections for their district and all directors are members themselves, with an obligation to make decisions in the best interest of the membership as a whole.

Thank you to all members in District 7 who took the time to vote in the runoff election.

Next year, seats on GVEA's board of directors for Districts 5 and 6, currently held by Chris Bunch and Fred Sheen, will be up for election. For more information about GVEA's Board of Directors, visit our Board of Directors page.
