OPEN NOW: Interstate 29 in Buchanan County

Buchanan County Cook Road Bridge rehabilitation project

ST. JOSEPH, Mo. - All lanes of Interstate 29 in Buchanan County are now open. Contractors from Clarkson Construction Company, working with the Missouri Department of Transportation, reopened the interstate at 7:45 p.m. on Thursday, July 18.

This closure allowed the contractor to set new girders and remove Cook Road Bridge's existing deck, which will be replaced with a new driving surface. The Cook Road Bridge rehabilitation project is anticipated to be complete by October 2024.

Overnight lane closures on I-29 below the bridge may occur between 7 p.m. and 7 a.m. at various dates through the project. A 12-foot width restriction will be in place.
