Congressman Kildee Announces 2024 Congressional App Challenge

FLINT-Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-08) today announced the 2024 Congressional App Challenge, encouraging all middle school and high school students in mid-Michigan to participate.

The Congressional App Challenge is an annual competition for students to work individually or as a team to create and submit an original app to their Member of Congress. The competition is an opportunity to encourage middle school and high school students to learn to code and explore careers in computer science. The winning team's app will be put on display in the U.S. Capitol Building for one year along with the winners from congressional districts across the country.

"I am excited to announce this year's Congressional App Challenge to highlight the innovative and exciting ideas of young coders in our community," said Congressman Kildee. "This competition is a great opportunity for students to challenge themselves and find modern solutions to issues facing our community. Mid-Michigan is home to so many creative and intelligent students, including the next generation of computer scientists, and I'm honored to highlight their accomplishments."

A list of past winners can be found here. Participating students must create an account on the Congressional App Challenge Application Portal. Full submission guidelines and rules can be found here.

Students will have until Thursday, October 24, 2024, at noon ET to submit their apps. For more information, please visit Congressman Kildee's website or call our Midland Office at 989-898-6060.
