Gov. Beshear Tours New Food Pantry, Celebrates More Than $750,000 in Funds for Hickman County

Funding will improve a local park, attract new industry and upgrade roads

CLINTON, Ky. (Oct. 3, 2024) - Today, Gov. Andy Beshear toured the nearly complete Mission House in Clinton and celebrated $757,104 in funding for Hickman County.

The Mission House will open soon as a food pantry and low-cost clothing store in Clinton. The project received $1.5 million in funding from Kentucky's Community Development Block Grant program, which is administered by the Department for Local Government.

"Today, we toured a nearly finished community building that we helped fund and announced more funds to further improve Hickman County," said Gov. Beshear. "We're on a historic winning streak in Kentucky in terms of economic development and improving quality-of-life metrics across the board. We're running as fast as we can to capitalize on our window of opportunity and investing in people in every corner of Kentucky."

Gov. Beshear also celebrated $757,104 in funding for Hickman County. The projects include:

• $500,000 to make upgrades to the baseball fields at Hickman County Recreational League Park;
• $89,540 that was used to resurface Reilly, Shelton and Cox Roads;
• $76,564 from the state's job-ready, build-ready site development fund to build an entryway to Enterprise Park, an industrial site in Hickman County; and
• $91,000 in funds to further develop the Enterprise Park.

"This was a great day for Hickman County as we celebrated a project that will help so many people in this community," said Hickman County Judge/Executive Kenny Wilson. "The additional funds celebrated today will improve the lives of our people and bring new business to town. We'll continue working with our state officials to build a brighter future for Hickman County."

"I was proud to advocate for improvements to the Hickman County Recreational League Park and bring this much-needed funding to this community," said Rep. Steven Rudy. "These funds will serve our kids and our families for years to come."

"The new Mission House will support our people, and is a huge win for our city," said Clinton MayorJohn Kelly. "Additionally, the funds announced today will only serve to build an even brighter future for the people of Clinton. We have a lot to celebrate and will keep working on behalf of our community."

Last month, Gibson Electric held a ribbon cutting ceremony, opening a new facility in Enterprise Park.
