Mayor LaFrance statement regarding Governor Dunleavy establishing final Eklutna Fish and Wildlife Program

"I am grateful for the Governor's thoughtful consideration of the joint proposal of the Municipality of Anchorage and the Native Village of Eklutna. With the establishment of the Final Eklutna Fish and Wildlife program, it creates a pathway for consideration and implementation of pumped storage at Eklutna Lake, which has the potential, using existing infrastructure, to provide much needed energy storage at this critical time and rewater the entire river, restore fish passage, and achieve the goals of the 1991 Agreement.

We look forward to working with all parties to efficiently move forward with the process the Governor has set out. I am still digesting the rest of the final program that the Governor issued today and look forward to conferring with others within the Municipality of Anchorage and the Native Village of Eklutna about this important decision."
