City Paves Sections of Main Street

City contractors completed paving work on Main Street between Clinton and White streets, utilizing resources the city is receiving from the state to mill and pave sections of more than a dozen roads. The city is eligible for approximately $2 million in state funding and anticipates improving approximately 2.6 miles of road with these funds.

The specific schedule is subject to a number of factors, including weather.

"Keeping our roads safe is one of our highest priorities," said Mayor Yvonne Flowers. "We are a small city with a lot of roads and limited resources. Maintaining our roads is always a challenge, especially during times when the city's finances were not in good shape. We greatly appreciate the state's help in making these upgrades. We will be improving streets in various parts of the city with the repairs and look forward to continuing this effort in future years."
