Photos from the Fall Groundfish Survey

We catch many species on the summer and fall groundfish surveys. A number of these samples are important for conducting population assessments and gathering important life history information. Some of them are commonly seen on these surveys, while others are unusual or surprising to see. I was only on leg I of the Fall Groundfish Survey, so I'm sure that there were many more species seen on leg II and leg III. Take a look at some of the species caught on leg I of the 2023 Fall Groundfish Survey in the photo album below!

Hannah Shahmoradi

Hannah Shahmoradi is a communications intern with the Directorate at NOAA Fisheries' Southeast Fisheries Science Center in Miami, Florida. Hannah earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Marine Science at the University of Maine in 2022, and is currently pursuing a Master of Professional Science degree in Marine Conservation at the University of Miami. Hannah's research interests include social science and human dimensions in marine conservation, behavioral research on marine megafauna, and media development. Meet Hannah.
